Convert any duration between time units
How many minutes are in a week? How many hours in a year? Time-unit conversions come up constantly — in scheduling, billing, cooking, and science — and doing them in your head is error-prone. This converter moves a single duration cleanly across seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years.
How to use the converter
Enter a value and select the unit it is in. The calculator shows the equivalent in every other unit at once, so one entry answers several questions.
How it works
Every duration is converted through a common base — the second — and then expressed in the unit you want. One minute is 60 seconds, one hour is 3,600 seconds, one day is 86,400 seconds, and one year (using the 365-day approximation) is 31,536,000 seconds. This common-base approach keeps conversions consistent no matter which direction you go.
Where the approximations sit
Two units are necessarily approximate: a month is treated as 30 days and a year as 365 days. That is perfect for rough planning and quick answers, but not for calendar-accurate date maths, because real months vary in length and leap years add a day. If you need the exact gap between two specific calendar dates, use a day-counting calculator instead, which respects the real calendar rather than an average.
